JOSEPH AL-AHMAD is a multilingual actor and filmmaker based between
Los Angeles and Sofia.
The son of a journalist of Sudanese and Bulgarian heritage and a Syrian university professor, Joseph grew up immersed in multiple cultures and languages, speaking four languages from an early age.
He is fluent in American English, Russian, Bulgarian, and Levantine Arabic, and is primarily based between Los Angeles, CA, and his hometown, Sofia.
Joseph landed his first supporting role in the television series Above The Clouds (MBC) while still in college in 2018.
Since then, he has worked on several major American studio productions, including A Christmas Story Christmas (2022, Warner Bros. & Legendary Entertainment), where he collaborated with Peter Billingsley and Erinn Hayes, followed by A Man With No Past (Paramount Pictures), directed by James Bamford.
Most recently, he portrays Sgt. Zinchenko in the upcoming war thriller Nightingale, directed by William Kaufman and slated for release in Summer 2026. The film, featured in Variety, stars LaMonica Garrett and Andrew Howard, with whom Joseph shares the screen.
He has been recognized as a rising talent “at the main gates of the industry” by European magazine EVA. His directorial debut, MOTIVES, earned him the 'Honorable Mention: Director' award at the Los Angeles Film Awards in 2019.
Joseph holds an MFA in Film & Theatre (2020) from the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography, along with additional intensive training at the AMAW Studio in Los Angeles.
Today, he works professionally between the United States and the European Union.
